[HASTINGS, NE July 1, 2024] — Cooperative Producers, Inc. (CPI) has promoted Larry Dygert to the position of Vice President of Health and Safety, effective July 1, 2024. Over the last several months, Larry worked closely with Doran Burmood to ensure a smooth transition as Doran prepared for retirement. Larry had served as CPI’s Health and Safety Coordinator for the past two years.
Larry spent nearly 15 years as a professional firefighter, beginning with four years of active duty as an Air Force firefighter. After leaving the military with an honorable discharge, Larry continued his career as a civilian firefighter for the Army and Air Force, both overseas and in Cheyenne, Wyoming. With safety being an integral part of firefighting, it was a natural transition for him to work for the Nebraska Department of Labor’s OSHA On-Site Safety and Health Consultation program. During those six-plus years with the NDOL, Larry developed many relationships and helped local Nebraska companies, including CPI, with safety.
“Larry brings a wealth of experience to this role, both within CPI and beyond. His background as a first responder, dedicated protector of citizens, and his expertise in regulatory compliance uniquely positions him to excel in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and organization” stated Gary Brandt, CEO. He added, “We are confident that his skills and dedication will greatly benefit CPI in this crucial area.”
Larry is originally from the Hastings area. He graduated from Adams Central High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Larry is married to Heather and has three wonderful stepchildren: Christian, Lindi, and Addysen, as well as two amazing grandbabies, Eloise and Miley. Larry’s parents, siblings, and many extended family members and friends live in the surrounding communities.
